Val's Twist on Simply Dashing from Night Owl Quilting

This is Val's unique interpretation of our Highway 10 Designs Simply Dashing pattern.  The pattern is written as a two fabric quilt that utilizes strip piecing for a fast and easy finish.

Val made it her own by starting with some ombre fat quarters and doing a whole lot of organizing and planning along the way.  It is great to see quilters take your pattern and run with their own vision.

Val chose the Gingersnap pantograph and a vibrant orange thread to add to the fun and match her backing.

Petal Junction - Date Night from Night Owl Quilting

Reneta made the lovely quilt for her daughter to give to some special friends who are getting married.  The pattern is Petal Junction from Highway 10 Designs.

The quilt was made entirely from the Date Night collection from Basic Grey for Moda.  Reneta used the lights creams and greys for scrappy background and the darker prints in the remainder of the quilt.  The classic neutral palette is perfect for a modern young couple.

Reneta selcted the Gingersnap pantograph pantograph for a clean finish.

South Cross & Old Market Square from Night Owl Quilting

Barb brought a pair of quilts that are both patterns from Erin at The Blanket Statement.  First up is the South Cross quilt which is the newest Blanket Statement pattern.

Barb selected the Gingersnap pantograph and a chorcoal grey thread.  We opted for Quilter's Dream black poly batting for this one as it had a solid back backing.

Barb also brought this Old Market Square quilt.  She wanted to keep a really clean and modern feel so we opted for organically spaced straight lines. The black batting didn't look great when placed under the Natural Kona fabric so ...

Strip Stacks from Night Owl Quilting

Tannis  brought this modern Strip Stacks quilt for some simple quilting.  The pattern is from GE Designs and is made using a jelly roll.

Tannis selected the Gingersnap pantograph and I used black thread top and bottom.

Both the top and the solid black backing were dark so I suggested using the black Quilter's Dream Midnight poly battting that I keep in stock.  Not only would it keep the white lint at bay, but no light color would be seen through the needle holes with the black thread.

Positively Bohemian from Night Owl Quilting

This striking quilt was made by Donna.  The pattern is called Positively Bohemian by Robin Pickens.  It features the Dandi Annie fabric collection by Robin for Moda.

Donna chose the Cassava pantograph that is somewhere between looking like a feather and flower.  She found the perfect colour of Fireside backing to bring the whole project together.

This second quilt is just pretty in pink!  Donna selected the Gingersnap pantograph as it seemed to fit with the circle patterns in the fabric.

And a lovely pink Fireside to continue the theme.

Plaid-ish Quilt from Night Owl Quilting

This fabulous "Plaid-ish" quilt was a team effort between sisters Eileen and Deann.  (The quilt's eventual home with be on Deann's bed.)  The pattern for the quilt is a free tutorial from Kitchen Table Quilting.

For success with this pattern you need to divide youR fabrics into distinct Lights, Mediums and Darks.  To make that process less overwhelming, Eileen and Deann used one fabric for the lights - the light grey batik, and for the darks they only used fabrics with black backgrounds and some multi coloured print.  Those two choices make selecting the medium tone on tone prints ...

Washboard Road from Night Owl Quilting

Barb made the absolutely stunning version of the Highway 10 Designs Washboard Road pattern.  I love the colors of this quilt! Barb used a a jelly roll of Sunshine Soul by the Create Joy Project for Moda and the background is a lovely Chalk and Charcoal from Robert Kaufman in the Midnight color.

Barb chose the Gingersnap pantograph for the quilting.  I was having a great tension day and I was able to match a fuchsia thread to the backing and a dark teal thread on the front.  (Love my Innova longarm!)

And check out the fabulous pieced backing Barb ...

Heart Crazies and a Bonus quilt from Night Owl Quilting

Sherry is fully in stash busting mode.  This is one of her latest creations from a Buggy Barn pattern called Heart Crazies.  I like Sherry's interesting layout with the blocks extending into the border in some rows.

I have quilted a number of quilts for Sherry and I have a pretty good handle on her likes and dislikes.  It took a little longer to decide on the right quilting plan for this one.  I sent Sherry many pantograph options but nothing seemed right to either of us.  I wanted to offer a reasonably priced option as this wasn't ...
